Leading anti-racism support in Southeast Melbourne
About the Southeast Anti-Racism Support Network
Co-led by South East Community Links (SECL) in partnership with Wellsprings for Women, Southern Migrant & Refugee Centre (SMRC), and the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY), the Southeast Anti-Racism Support Network is a regional initiative committed to supporting people impacted by racism and building a future grounded in dignity, fairness, and justice.
The southeast of Melbourne is one of three areas in Victoria served by a specialised community-led anti-racism support network. The Southeast Anti-Racism Support Network is coordinated by Victoria University and covers the local government areas of Greater Dandenong, Casey, and Cardinia..
It offers a safe space for people who have faced racism to share their experiences in a supportive, culturally aware environment and jointly explore next steps. With consent, the network also anonymously documents incidents of racism to help build a local evidence base and strengthen community advocacy for policy change.
We work across this region rich in cultural diversity but not free from racial injustice to empower voices, build allyship, and respond to racism in both individual and systemic ways.
Our mission is to support people harmed by racism, dismantle systems of inequality and build stronger, safer communities.
Why this work matters
Racism is real, harmful and too often ignored. It affects people in subtle and visible ways whether through being overlooked for a job, feeling excluded at school, being targeted in public spaces, or facing systemic disadvantage in housing, healthcare and law enforcement.
But racism doesn’t just harm individuals, it divides communities.
We believe that multiculturalism is a strength and that healing begins when people are heard, supported and uplifted.
Our Position Statement
We affirm our unwavering commitment to building a society free from racism.
